About the role

Qualcomm’s Voice & Music Business is continuously pushing the envelope of wireless audio.

We are creating an optimised chain of audio innovations and software designed to provide seamless, immersive audio in, and across, devices including smartphones, wireless earbuds, wireless speakers and headsets. The business is driving a superior sound experience for consumers while listening to streaming music, communicating on the phone, or wireless gaming.

We most recently led the market in announcing CD lossless quality over Bluetooth as part of a host of integrated innovations making up Snapdragon Sound.

We are expanding our commercially focused finance team and are looking for a Senior Finance Analyst to expand our capabilities to provide best-in-class financial information and insights when partnering with the General Manager and wider Qualcomm organisation to drive the business forwards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare analysis on latest forecasts and budgets (sales, margins and engineering opex) and prepare quarterly BU reporting decks for HQ in San Diego including variance reporting and narrative

  • Monitor KPIs to track businesses performance and support the ongoing development of KPI reporting that is fit for purpose and helps drive commercial decision making

  • Partner with the business to support the budgeting and forecasting cycle and maintain forecast models

  • Reconcile financial trackers for key projects to Salesforce and Demantra forecasting system, following up with sales and marketing as necessary

  • Support process improvements and contribute to the implementation of an improved budget and forecasting process utilising a CPM

  • Work with the finance team in San Diego to track project expenditure and follow up with Project Management on key variances.

  • Support alignment with program management on project spend analyses to aid portfolio level expenditure decisions

  • Support the annual strategic planning process

  • Coordinate and attend monthly forecast meetings with sales, preparing key information in advance

  • Ad hoc reporting for the business unit Finance Director and General Manager

  • Ensuring data accuracy in TM1 and Oracle and resolving any issues with the system accountants

  • Maintain key pricing information and perform pricing analysis

Requirements:

We are looking for a high calibre near-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA), and hold a degree ideally in Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Science or Engineering. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage and appropriately prioritise multiple tasks/projects. We are looking for the personality and pace to work closely with sales, marketing and operations in a dynamic, matrixed global technology business. Being able to prepare and communicate financial information effectively to a non-finance audience is essential.

Strong Excel skills (ideally including Excel’s Powersuite) are a must ideally with evidence of being able to work with larger datasets as well as being able to produce lightweight analyses on the fly to support decision making.

Demonstration of the following skills would also be desirable:

  • Business intelligence tools e.g. Tableau or PowerBI

  • Keen to learn and continually develop skills

  • Proactive and keen to find more efficient ways of working

  • Robust and flexible under pressure and able to cope with a fast pace, tight deadlines, varying priorities and ambiguity within a matrix organisation

  • Knowledge of Salesforce
