General Summary:
This UK-based position will be a key member of Qualcomm’s global tax team, reporting to the Senior Director of International Tax. This individual will be the primary tax contact for Qualcomm’s non-US operations in Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa, and work closely with the regional tax and finance teams as well as the functional tax and trade teams (Provision, Planning, US and Trade) in leading and providing a coordinated and proactive approach on tax topics/projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Support the business on all significant transactions, including joint ventures and go-to-market strategies, while mitigating adverse tax impacts and managing withholding tax and PE issues
Work within broad cross-border teams to lead, develop, support and implement strategic tax initiatives including restructuring, value chain initiatives and intellectual property planning, funding and cash repatriation strategies, M&A, and support analyzing the overall ETR and cash tax impacts
Review and timely and accurately file direct and indirect tax returns for material non-US countries/entities
Lead all non-US tax audits, including interacting and negotiating with tax authorities
Support material non-US statutory audits, including review of the tax disclosures
Support quarterly/annual reporting for the non-US tax provisions which contribute to the global ETR, entity forecasts, cash and R&Os
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (e.g., MDR, SOX, SAF-T, BEPS); enforce company tax policies, practices and controls; and ensure consistency on a worldwide basis
Support simplification initiatives including legal entity simplification and improving processes that are owned by and/or impact tax
Skills and Experience
Significant income tax and indirect tax experience in a US multinational group on international matters (e.g., worldwide R&D locations, manufacturing, and distribution functions), preferably with tax technical knowledge and experience in the UK, Europe and India
Knowledge and experience with transfer pricing, including cost-sharing agreements
Demonstrated ability to work in different tax territories, on cross border projects, M&A, financing, structuring, licensing, royalty and treaty issues
Working knowledge of US GAAP & local tax accounting, and experience of interacting with external auditors of multinational companies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: clear thinker with ability to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers
Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions within global teams; able to clearly communicate and present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner at all levels; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing and effectively partner to implement business decisions/solutions as a result
Demonstrated ability to execute and implement in addition to advising; ability to manage number of projects at the same time, while prioritizing based on business needs
Train, mentor and build an effective and successful global team
Qualifications
Qualified Lawyer, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent specializing in taxation with extensive relevant experience.
At least 10 years of tax experience, including management role in a corporate tax department, accounting firm and/or law firm.
Team player with the ability to operate successfully in a matrix environment, and from a remote location, with strong influencing skills and confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 9+ years of Finance, Accounting, or related work experience.
*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
