By joining Sedgwick, you'll be part of something truly meaningful. It’s what our 33,000 colleagues do every day for people around the world who are facing the unexpected. We invite you to grow your career with us, experience our caring culture, and enjoy work-life balance. Here, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Commercial Field Investigator

Job Location: United Kingdom

Job Type: Permanent

Remuneration: Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications

We have a new opportunity for a Commercial Field investigator to join our Fraud team at Sedgwick.

Commercial Investigations is an integral part of Sedgwick, providing our internal and external clients with fraud management. We do not adopt a one size fits all approach but deliver a cost-effective defence against fraud through screening, conversation management, field investigations and fraud management consultancy.

Part of our work requires skilled and talented individuals to assess certain claims that are potentially fraudulent, so the work is never dull, boring or repetitive. If you have an inquisitive nature and can often solve issues by process of elimination, then this role could well be the one you have been looking for.

The role will be to investigate a portfolio of commercial claims that have been identified as potentially fraudulent. You’ll be responsible for managing your own case load and carrying out necessary investigations and field visits whilst gathering evidence. Additionally, you`ll need to maintain constant contact with our policy holders, making sure you take accurate statements and records. Before each case is closed, you’ll be responsible for completing price enquires, negotiating settlements, communicating repudiations and issuing reports to insurers.

You will also be in contact with third parties such as credit reference agencies and the police by various media, so an essential part of this role will be to keep abreast of current legislation and codes of practice as they relate to insurance investigations.

Experience of investigating fraudulent claims in the field and/or experience in handling a portfolio of general domestic/commercial claims with an interest in fraud are a pre-requisite for this role.

The skills you will have when you apply:

  • Commercial Insurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial insurance policies, claims handling, fraud risks, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements

  • Qualifications: Ideally ACILA, ACFS, CII or a related insurance, fraud, or investigative qualification.

  • Investigation Experience: Experience conducting commercial insurance investigations within an insurer, loss adjusting practice, specialist investigation firm, or similar environment.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent interviewing, telephone, and report-writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, witnesses, and key stakeholders.

  • Analytical Judgement: Ability to review and assess evidence objectively, identify irregularities, and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.

  • Driving Licence & Collaboration: Full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel as required, alongside the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners.

What we’ll give you for this role:

Remuneration & more

  • Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications

  • Company car or monthly car allowance.

  • A Self Invested Personal Pension Scheme (SIPP)

  • Holiday allowance of 25 days plus bank holidays

  • Flexible working from our office or your home

Health & support

  • Private healthcare plan (including pre-existing conditions)

  • Life assurance

  • Employee assistance programme for employee wellbeing

  • Wellbeing and digital GP apps

  • Group Income Protection

  • Voluntary flexible benefits – green car scheme, health assessment, travel insurance, dental cover, cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan,
