About the role
This role champions the voice of the subscriber and drives consumer-focussed thinking, helping to deliver great reader and competitor understanding to editorial, subscriptions, product, strategy and commerce departments.
Key responsibilities
- Provide reader, market and competitor research to support the editorial, subscriptions, product, strategy and commerce departments.
- Lead a team of two Senior Research Executives, a Research Executive and a Graduate.
- Deliver and manage regular competitor reporting to the business.
- Ensure research projects across the team are scoped and briefed effectively - framing objectives to ensure that any primary research undertaken is aligned with business needs; setting expectations for what will and won’t be achieved; clearly defining the deliverables and individual project responsibilities.
- Analyse and integrate information from disparate sources (internally and externally), translating research findings and competitor intel into robust, clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Help define growth opportunities, ensuring key reader learnings are synthesised from all sources and shared across the organisation in a way that inspires action and unlocks internal expertise for the wider organisation.
- Act as an ambassador for Reader Research, building key internal relationships to help raise the profile of the team so that it is known, supported and valued by the organisation.
- Identify potential gaps in insight and make recommendations on how they can be filled.
- Work with the wider I&A team to deliver cross-company insights.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, with significant experience running market and customer research projects end to end.
- Able to juggle numerous projects at once, prioritising and delegating where necessary.
- Strong communicator and storyteller.
- Approachable, naturally inquisitive, passionate about research/ the voice of the subscriber, with a strong desire to truly understanding people, and what makes them tick.
- Passionate about our brand, with a strong knowledge of the media and publishing industry.
- Advanced knowledge of the Google Suite toolset including Sheets, Docs and Slides.
- Ideally experience of using market research tools such as TGI, Comscore, PAMCo or equivalent.
