Description of role:

TWI’s Quality and Safety Group provide advice and support to everyone working at TWI. The Group is currently seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join this friendly and busy team.

Your duties will include:

  • providing staff with advice and assistance on health, safety and environmental matters
  • assisting staff in the production of risk and COSHH assessments
  • assisting the HSE team leader to produce fire risk assessment reports
  • the data logging of accident and near miss statistics
  • maintaining safety and information around site
  • working with team members to maintain our ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 certification

You will be required to work under the guidance of the HSE Team Leader in order to deliver a timely, efficient and professional service to internal customers. You will be expected to build your expertise in appropriate areas and keep up to date with developments in standards and legislation.

You will be a self-motivated individual, able to work alone or as part of a small team. You must be organised and able to work to tight deadlines whilst managing frequent interruptions. Accuracy and attention to detail will be important to you. Excellent communication skills are key to this role as it is envisaged that a significant proportion of your time will be spent with colleagues working in laboratories and workshops.

You will have a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health (or other relevant Health & Safety Qualification) and NEBOSH General Certificate in Environmental Management (or other relevant Environmental Qualification) or working towards and experience of working in an Engineering environment.

Travel:

This role will require occasional travel to UK regions.

Security clearance:

Must hold or be able to get UK Security Clearance.
