The Thermal Processing Technology team at TWI are looking to back fill a recently vacated position. We are seeking a self-motivated Technician/Senior Technician with mechanical, engineering or materials skills. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on experiments with advanced vacuum furnace equipment, heat treatment, 3D scanning technology, brazing techniques on ever changing research projects. Contributing to internationally renowned work on established and emerging thermal processing techniques, you will enjoy responsibility for, and rapidly gain experience in, these areas. You will strengthen the capabilities of a knowledgeable, innovative and welcoming team by taking on responsibilities including the full working knowledge and programming of various sized vacuum furnace equipment, preparation of components and samples pre and post treatment, develop knowledge of powder characterisation, brazing, small scale mechanical/electrical testing, amongst other niche thermal experiments. As well as maintenance of equipment and involvement in design and development of jigs, fixtures and experimental parameters.
Travel:
This position will require occasional travel.
Security clearance:
You will require or be prepared for UK security clearance for this role.
