Description of role:
The Materials Performance and Integrity (MPI) Group has a number of laboratories located in Cambridge and Middlesbrough that cover a wide range of materials testing.
A Laboratory Operations Manager post has been created to bring all the MPI laboratories under uniform operational conditions and support the laboratory managers with their workflows.
The Laboratory Operations Manager will apply industrial best procedures for managing jobs in and out of the Group laboratories and maintain Health & Safety according to TWI processes and procedures.
The Laboratory Operations Manager will work alongside the Laboratory Section Manager and generate new or adopt existing laboratory procedures effectively so that they are fitting to each laboratory area with the support of the Laboratory Managers.
The Laboratory Operations Manager, the Laboratory Section Manager and the Laboratory Managers will form the MPI laboratories leadership team with clear responsibilities as shown in the Job Description Document (link attached below)
The Laboratory Operations Manager will be responsible for:
- The MPI laboratories budget which will now be part of a separate MPI laboratories budget and P&L.
- The MPI laboratories budget will include costs for all maintenance and repair activities in the labs
- Effective communication with QAS to ensure compliance with applicable legal obligations, company policies and continued certification to ISO standards
- Effective communication with OFM to guarantee building infrastructure that can support the Group activities
Travel:
This position may require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.
