Technical Authority – Combat Systems
Would you like to play a key role in managing the integration of complex Combat Systems into a cutting-edge warship design? We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Authority – Combat Systems at our site in either Scotstoun/Filton/Portsmouth.
As a Technical Authority – Combat Systems, you will be responsible for delivering a T26 Combat System that is safe, compliant and fit for use, developing and maintaining the Combat System physical and functional architecture and design, the coherence and completeness of the overall Combat System design and the management of allocated Combat System-wide activities (including assurance and acceptance of integrated Combat system through shore based and ship based trials).
This highly technical role will provide you with the opportunity to join at an exciting stage of the programme, gain a holistic view of system of systems, supporting the installation of equipment and preparing to be “set to work “as the build matures.
Your main responsibilities as a Technical Authority – Combat Systems will involve:
- Delegated Technical Authority for the assigned Combat System equipment
- Supporting the T26 Combat System Technical Authority (CSTA) in the acceptance associated with key milestones, including Factory, Shore and Ship based trials
- Providing engineering leadership to the Combat System delivery teams in the definition and maintenance of the Combat System physical, functional and transverse design and its delivery to final acceptance
- Supporting the T26 CSTA in the production of safety documentation for the T26 Wholeship Safety and Environmental Case
- Ensuring T26 Combat System design consistency and coherence and supporting T26 CSTA in production of the Certificates of Design
- Facilitating independent reviews of engineering design and integration as part of the project Design Assurance process
- Representing the CSTA at Inter-Domain Working Groups, Safety and Steering Groups and in Supplier Design Reviews and Progress Meetings
- Coordinating and managing customer and other stakeholder input into the Type 26 Combat System acceptance process
Your skills and qualifications as a Technical Authority – Combat Systems:
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in STEM subject
- Chartered Engineer or working towards professional accreditation
- Experience of systems engineering lifecycle including design, requirements, test and acceptance
- Knowledge of engineering governance in a systems engineering environment
- Experience working within a complex, multidisciplinary engineering environment
Desirable:
Background in Combat Systems/Mission Systems
