You will be a key contributor to the Jira Align Development Platform, which strives to help simplify software at scale by bringing business and software development organizations together in one intuitive platform.

In this role, you will be a Principal Software Engineer and a key contributor working on core feature design and architecture, evolving our SDLC practices, pushing for technology innovation, and contributing new platform functionality.

With your software engineering skills and experience, you will work on items including SAML/SSO, REST API, integrations, existing features in C#, and other Microsoft languages and scripts. You will use your database and back-end knowledge for working side by side with the most senior members of the team on quality and scalability initiatives to take us to the next level.

Using your client and server-side coding experience, you will be guiding us and collaborating to transform our product into an API-first product and modernize our UI stack. Blueprinting guidelines and best practices with the most senior members of the team in our journey to transform and be ready to fulfill our increasing customer demands.
You will be counted on to provide guidance and mentorship with hands-on development of internal development, testing, and continuous integration processes. You will have a lot of autonomy and the opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of Jira Align.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in a software development team
  • Strong fundamental software development skills
  • Proven experience on working with senior team members, PMs and managers to bring a strategy to execution.
  • Advanced experience in web-based applications and architecture
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs
  • Expertise with software development in Java based/.NET frameworks in software design, object-oriented programming
  • Database MSSQL, Postgres
  • Browser/JavaScript fundamentals
  • Scripting languages
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • You value progress over perfection and have a track record of shipping value to customers.
  • Experience building distributed systems for a SaaS product


It's great, but not required, if you have:

  • Experience with .NET Framework (C#)
  • DevOps experience using, building and supporting systems using a CI/CD pipeline
  • Automated deployment and release management tools (ex. Octopus)
  • Familiarity with AWS Fundamentals (ex. VPC, EC2)
