Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
As a Shield Engineer you will be the first line of contact for other teams within Atlassian, while also increasing the efficiency of the SRE teams that you are protecting. You will resolve different requests through our service desk by using your excellent product and platform knowledge, build bridges between our SRE teams and other Atlassian teams and establish processes, construct tooling and automate all the things to improve the effectiveness of your team and surrounding teams over time.
You will help accelerate our SRE teams by providing a world class support experience and improving engineering efficiency, impact and developer experience.
You will report to an Engineering Manager and be embedded directly in a SRE team.
On your first day, we'll expect you to know:
How to support engineering teams in technical domains
How to support modern Java-based applications
Modern development and operational best-practices
How to enhance developer productivity and the end-to-end engineering experience
How to engineer solutions using shell scripting, Python/Java/Kotlin and Cloud Infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
How to use CI/CD and DevOps tools, such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Gitlab, Github Actions
(Optional) How to use Atlassian products, such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket Cloud, and Pipelines
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $147,400 - $196,600
Zone B: $132,700 - $176,900
Zone C: $122,400 - $163,100
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.
