Quality Engineer
Would you like to work across all Warton Unit aircraft programmes including the Hawk, Harrier, Tornado, Typhoon and F35 & Development Projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Quality Engineer at our site in Samlesbury.
As a Tooling Inspector / Quality Engineer, you will cover the inspection requirements for machining, detail fitting, assembly fitting and jig installations utilising the laser tracker, laser scanner and CMM technologies.
This role will provide you with exciting opportunities to work across various aircraft programmes, inspecting and analysing data from a variety of tooling manufacturing & re proving processes in locations across Samlesbury & Warton sites and there are potential opportunities for further UK and international travel. This role will enable you to gain more exposure across the business and open up further opportunities within the Tooling business and or Quality department.
Your main responsibilities as a Quality Engineer will involve:
To work as a Tooling Inspector / Quality Engineer within the BAE Systems Air Sector Tooling organisation based at Samlesbury, ensuring compliance of across programme product manufactured by and on behalf of the Tooling function. Working effectively as a team member within a team of Inspector’s to qualify tooling to ensure compliance to drawing and Engineering Standard
Under guidance of the Manufacturing Function Quality Assurance and Governance Lead, certifying all products to agreed standards and procedures using the specified inspection methodology maintaining product quality prior to customer delivery. Certification of Jig and Tool verification utilising various inspection methods
Management of Calibrated Assets
Customer liaison with regards to product quality Tool Design and Engineering leads
Support the closure of quality / non-conformance issues highlighted within the Tooling department and Investigating and resolving quality problems highlighted during the manufacture of tools and associated product.
Certification of on-shore and internationally located tooling
Communicating effectively and identifying early potential quality risks, seeking clarification and providing feedback to the Quality lead for the business
Your skills and qualifications:
Demonstrable inspection experience within a tooling environment.
SHE Experience of safe working practices including Risk Assessments etc.
SQCDP understanding and some working experience in order to plan, organize and structure workload in line with business and management directives.
Customer focus with the ability to deal with demanding customers in relation to tooling activities is essential.
Experienced with laser tracker, laser scanner and / or CMM technologies
