We are looking for a talented Machinist - Level II to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fridley, MN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Deliver high-quality components by accurately reading and interpreting part drawings, using machine tool equipment with minimal guidance to meet precise specifications.

  • Support safe operations by adhering to HSE standards, proactively identifying hazards, using proper PPE, and immediately reporting risks, incidents, or unsafe conditions.

  • Contribute to equipment reliability by supporting uptime, performing failure analysis, and executing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.

  • Ensure consistent quality by following process documentation, conducting inspections, and using measuring and testing instruments to verify workmanship and compliance.

  • Operate and maintain a wide range of tool room equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, grinders, milling machines, drill presses, and shapers, to build, repair, and assemble components.

  • Improve operational efficiency by identifying manufacturing constraints, solving problems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce cost or quality risks.

  • Maintain an organized and efficient workspace by performing routine housekeeping, machine cleaning, and aligning maintenance schedules with production needs.

  • Strengthen team performance by communicating effectively across teams, actively participating in TPM activities, and completing training to support ongoing development, safety, and process improvements.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Make timely, well-informed decisions that keep work progressing and support overall team and business objectives.

  • Demonstrate strong health and safety leadership by proactively identifying risks, reporting concerns, and contributing to a culture focused on injury prevention.

  • Apply controls safety knowledge by recognizing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic hazards and integrating safe practices into daily work activities.

  • Leverage manufacturing knowledge to effectively implement process, equipment, and application improvements that drive efficiency and continuous improvement.

  • Select and apply appropriate tool and fixture designs to securely hold workpieces, ensuring accuracy, stability, and adherence to functional requirements during manufacturing processes.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

  • Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Additional Information

  • Familiarity with CNC Mill and CNC Lathe machines (Haas brand desirable)

  • Good working knowledge of shop math (Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry)

  • Basic understanding of CAD/CAM programming systems (Gibbs CAM)

  • Identify and procure necessary material.

  • 2+years of experience working with machining preferred.

final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s

qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
