DevOps Engineer III

Expedia Group People Technology team looking for a DevOps Engineer III to own our production and development cloud network and infrastructure and lead our migration out of the data center and into the future. Our team supports the People Team for Expedia Group improving the employee experience and delighting our business partners.
As a DevOps Engineer III, your main responsibility will be technical design, planning, implementation, security, and support of all our AWS cloud environments. You will also serve as a technical authority in cloud infrastructure design and use for the entire People Team Department. Your responsibilities will also extend into being the point of contact with the Expedia Group network and security teams to guarantee connectivity and security between our environments and the larger network. You will also cross-train on supporting all other production SaaS and database systems to provide coverage when other team members are unavailable.
Your position combines proficiency in AWS and other cloud and PaaS vendor offerings with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with Technical Program Managers and Engineers to turn broad requirements into build items. This position combines expert-level proficiency in Operating Systems, Datalake, Relational Database and SaaS systems with the good communication skills. In addition, this role will be a technical lead position with day-to-day thought leadership and mentoring of a small team as well as training and voicing support for DevOps throughout Expedia's People Teams and leaders. The individual will also work with multi-functional teams to address system, interface, data, and vendor issues.
What you’ll do:
Maintain, configure, and document cloud-based infrastructures using AWS Virtual Private Cloud, build and support EC2 instances in AWS
Perform systems analysis, tuning and troubleshooting cloud service events and issues, build reporting, monitoring & alerting tools for cloud usage and costs
Define, document, and maintain network configuration within AWS VPCs and between VPCs and data center networks, including firewall, DNS, and ACL configurations
Collaborate with team members on the design of and review developer work on DevOps tools and practices
Task automation using Python/PowerShell and BASH scripts as well as enterprise scheduling systems such as Stone branch or Control-m
Support Airflow DAGs in the Data Lake which were using Spark framework and Big Data Technologies
Will take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise, support strategy-definition and participate on continuous process improvement activities
Who you are:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in information science, computer science, business; or equivalent professional experience
5-7 Years AWS or other cloud platform experience
Networking - General networking knowledge, VLANs, routing, switching, TCP/IP, and firewall concepts
Good experience with AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes and/or other automation tools
Experience with Splunk/Cloud Watch setting up, monitoring, and analyzing systems logging and monitoring
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of Agile project methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, required
