The Data Platform group at Media Solutions is building the data foundations that will fuel the power of data and provide insights for all our traveler and advertiser uses cases. We build and operate systems that centralize all of Expedia Group’s advertising data, making it easy for our systems and users, transform and access data for analytics, data science, finance and advertiser experiences. As a technical lead data engineer on the team, you will build systems across foundational processing and data storage systems through scalable pipelines, to frameworks and tools that make data available to teams and systems.

We need a Principal Data Engineer to provide technical and though leadership and help evolve our next generation architecture for our Travel Advertising Data Platform.

What you'll do:

● Define the technical vision for the Travel Advertising data platform

● Provide engineering leadership for a talented and diverse team of engineers

● Work with product and tech leaders throughout the company to define advertising related standards and architecture

● Deliver impactful capabilities that delight our travel shoppers, advertisers, and publishers

● Design and build scalable, high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed big data systems

● Write lots of code

Who you are:

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline; or equivalent related professional experience

● 10+ years of software engineering experience, including Java, Scala and/or C++

● Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

● Experience in building high-performance, highly-available and scalable real-time and batch big data systems

● Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $207,500.00 to $290,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $332,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
