Principal Software Quality Engineer

As a Principal Quality engineer, you will play a critical role in creating quality engineering solutions of significant scope and importance to ensure that all externalized capabilities operate as expected and provide a delightful experience to Expedia’s customers.

What you'll do:

  • Be a key contributor to the Data Quality function and provide technical leadership to all quality processes

  • Influence and build-in quality in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Architect, design and develop automation frameworks, quality tools including ML/AI/data validation solutions, dashboards and automation that enable fast-cycle small release development processes

  • Platform certification through automation, and continuous improvement of the reliability of APIs and experiences delivered

  • Participate in product development to ensure early detection of defects

  • Lead collaboration with key stakeholders and contribute subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issues

  • Use your professional experience to resolve complex issues and achieve quality goals creatively and effectively

  • Influence quality best practices, and adoption of quality vision, strategy, process, standards, tools, automation frameworks and solutions

  • Enable the team to execute all the required types of tests

  • Coach the team on testing methodologies and automating all types of automatable tests and meet the release criteria. Help create a high-quality testing culture

  • Influence quality best practices and shift left for early detection and resolution of defects

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience

  • 10+ years relevant work experience

  • Experienced in innovating, architecting, designing and developing test automation frameworks and quality tools including ML/AI/data validation solutions that increase the velocity, quality and efficiency of testing

  • Experienced in QA processes, building in quality in all phases of the product life cycle, test automation and execution of all types functional and non-functional tests

  • Technical lead with Quality mind-set, ability to lead and coach teams on quality engineering best practices, methodologies, solutions and large scale E2E testing across multiple teams

  • Experienced with identifying, leveraging and influencing industry standard and leading-edge technologies in quality engineering to improve test automation techniques

  • Able to test, monitor, debug, fix issues within established SLAs, using testing and monitoring tools

  • Experienced with REST APIs, ML, AI, Data pipelines, CICD, Java and NoSQL technologies

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $207,500 to $290,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $332,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $207,500 to $290,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $332,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in San Francisco is $228,500.00 to $320,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $365,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
