Expedia Group has an exciting opportunity to join its Global Tax Reporting Team as a Senior Analyst. The Global Tax Reporting Team is part of the broader tax department and corporate finance at Expedia Group. Our team of tax enthusiasts is responsible for the global tax provision, U.S. income tax reporting (federal, state, and U.S. international reporting), tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions support, and special projects. Reporting to the Director, Global Tax Reporting, the Senior Analyst will provide U.S. income tax support for planning / business initiatives, corporate transactions, legislative changes, and other special projects.
What you’ll do
Reporting to the Director, Global Tax Reporting, the Senior Analyst will support the team in the end-to-end tax life cycle, focusing on the global income tax provision, and participating in all aspects of our work including income tax planning, financial reporting, federal and state income tax compliance, income tax controversy, and special projects.
As the Senior Analyst, you will partner with teams in Global Finance and Tax to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting and achieve the goals and priorities of the Expedia organization.
The specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Financial Reporting:
Support the U.S. GAAP interim and annual income tax provision (ASC 740), including preparation of the effective tax rate, analysis of uncertain tax positions and valuation allowance, preparation of journal entries and disclosures.
Compute return-to-provision adjustments
Prepare tax account roll-forwards
Prepare payable and deferred proofs
Prepare internal control documentation for SOX compliance
U.S. Tax Compliance:
Assist with taxable income calculations and forecasts
Prepare audit-ready workpapers in accordance the team’s documentation standards
Planning and Legislative:
Prepare tax forecasts and scenario modeling
Research and analyze the tax effects of legislative changes
Transactions:
Support transactions including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, financing arrangements, and business initiatives.
Prepare calculations and memoranda documenting related tax effects.
Summarize the effective tax rate impacts and disclosure considerations.
Tax Operations:
Support the evolution of tax technology tools and technological enhancements
Support ongoing process transformation
Prepare and maintain process documentation
Who you are
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax
CPA license preferred
3+ years of relevant experience, with a combination of Big4 public accounting and industry experience preferred
Sufficient knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax concepts
Ability to work successfully in a high-performing environment, with strong desire to learn and grow.
Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Willingness to learn new software or systems
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
