Data Scientist III, Product Analytics

We are looking for a highly motivated data scientistto join Traveler Growth and LoyaltyProduct analytics;In this role, you will partner with product team on setting experimentation (Randomized test, multi-arm bandit test), define and measureproduct success (cohort analysis, engagement incrementality, retention economics), drive the actionable insights (personalization product discovery, engagement levers sizing) and advocate methodology and best practices in analytics community. Your expertise and commitment in leveraging data-driven approach to solve challenging travelers’ problems, proactive communication and one team focus, as well as strong ownership and tenancy in driving projects to the end will be essential enablers to accelerate EGtraveler growth and retention.
What you'll do:
You will apply a range of common statistical / analytics methods in data modeling, quantitative analysis, experiment design, and data visualization with a religious focus on improving travelers’ product experience, steward Expedia product with actionable insights
You will own measurement framework development for traveler engagement, retention, and loyalty-driving products; provide support to productteam on goal setting, performance diagnosis, and dashboard development
You will proactivelyidentifykey travelers’ problem statement, apply analytically sound approaches, and recommend the best solution with focus on driving actionable insights to improve Expedia travelers’ engagement and retention
You will build practical & fundamentalMLmodels based on detailed understanding of business requirements (including general approach, choice of algorithm and data sources) to fuel Expedia personalization product roadmap
You will collaborate with peer data science team to refine and improve engagement driven test methodology, competitive analysis, and measurement best practices
You will partner closely with technical and non-technical teams, to answer complex business and user behavior questions, with a focus on meaningful insights
Proactively engage with multiple departments across the organization, including Product, Strategy, Engineering, and Finance, to tackle problems and identify trends and opportunities
Who you are:
Bachelor's or Master’s or PhD degree in Mathematics, Science, Statistics degree or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
A high performing individual contributor who consistently applies and enhances the analytics capabilities, principles, and playbooks to solve complex business issues and opportunities
Passionate for logical problem solving and intellectual challenges; curious by nature with an enthusiasm for making an impact; sharp focus on results and strong attention to detail
Operates independentlywith strong sense of ownership, be able to deal with ambiguity and apply structured way to frame and approach problems
Strong growth mindset, great team player, and be able to mentor junior data scientists
Be resourceful and connect the dots intuitively; bias to action is strongly preferred
Able to communicate the results of sophisticated analyses in a clear and effective manner (in both spoken and written)
Expert with large data sets, SQL (or SQL equivalent), and big data tools / languages (Hadoop, Hive, Spark)
Understanding of statistics and hypothesis testing (ex. Confidence Interval, Regressions, Time Series, Clustering, Factor Analysis), experience in modeling selection, building and evaluation
Proficient in statistics, including randomized tests design and quasi-experimental design
Proficient in building data visualizations (Tableau, Looker, etc.)
Experience with Python, Scala, R, or other similar coding language
Experience with web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics a plus

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $128,500 to $180,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $205,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $118,000 to $165,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $189,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
