Experimentation Statistician III

Expedia is seeking an intellectually curious, collaborative, and experienced data scientist to join the Experimentation Science & Statistics team, part of the global Product Analytics and Experimentation team, as a Data Scientist III. This team fuels data-informed decisions, and online experimentation to enhance web products and improve customer experience.
What you'll do:
Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of online experiments that shape product decision-making
Drive innovation through development of new experimentation methodologies, statistical techniques, and causal-inference approaches that could sharpen our product decision-making and improve user experience
Drive the research direction in developing methods and tools that increase the rigor and efficiency of our experimentation platform
Present your research and insights to all levels of the company
Build methods and metrics to measure health and performance of A/B testing program across various product teams
Build self-service tools and provide the training to empower individuals to make their own decisions on test design and analysis
Check on the quality and use of information coming from experiments for business decisions
Provide general experimentation and statistical consulting across the organization
Use business and technical knowledge to influence a variety of partners on test design and outcome (validation of hypothesis, size and configuration of test variances, test length, winner acceptance criteria, validation of test results and calculation of annualized revenue impact)
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role in which you will have direct influence on how product decisions are made and what experiences are being rolled out to our users across the globe
You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to drive a culture of experimentation, develop methods in causal inference and improve decision making
You'll make improve the health and performance of testing program across the organization
You'll communicate statistical & experimental techniques as well as test results to variety of partners (product managers, marketers, and senior leaders)
Who you are:
Master's or PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
Significant experience and excitement with one or more of the following: advanced statistical techniques for A/B testing, methods for experimental design, observational causal inference, or quasi-experimental analysis
Deep statistical skills utilized in analyzing clickstream behavioral data, A/B testing, and modeling
Experience with distributed analytic processing technologies (Spark, Presto, Hive)
Strong proficiency with Python / R and SQL
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Experience using massive amounts of data to drive product innovation

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $128,500.00 to $180,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $205,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
