Senior Mobile Engineer, Android

What you’ll do:

  • Own the development and quality of features being implemented on the Expedia Android app

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise during the planning phase

  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and industry guidelines

  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs, ensuring smooth communication between the Android app and server-side systems

  • Write automated unit, system, and acceptance tests as appropriate to supportour continuous integration pipelines

  • Participate in regular stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's agile development process.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and technical optimization within the mobile development workflow

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 6+ years of experience working in an Android environment

  • Extensive knowledge of Android technologies such as Jetpack, Jetpack Compose, Java, Kotlin, and Android Studio

  • Knowledge of API service connection paradigms and understanding of client/server architectures

  • Mastery of mobile development standard methodologies

  • Confident in driving technical discussions and decisions across functional teams and organizations

  • Passionate about learning and growing others around you

  • A love for all aspects of application development, from brainstorming and design toimplementation and launch

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $148,500.00 to $208,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $237,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
