Position Overview

The Senior Accountant serves as a key member of the Hubbell Electrical Solutions (HES) finance team primarily supporting the GAI-Tronics site within the Harsh & Heavy Industrial (HHI) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) although responsibilities will extend to all facilities within the HHI SBU. This role reports to the HHI Controller and interfaces regularly with the local management team, HHI controllership and operational finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible timely and accurate closing, operational metrics to drive performance & ensuring a strong control environment at the facility. This role partners with the Accounting, Operations and HR functions to ensure the delivery of value-added analytical support to be applied by the Management team in making routine decisions and in setting near and long-term strategic objectives

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading timely and accurate month end close process, including preparing and/or reviewing Journal entries, account reconciliations & analysis
  • Prepare monthly income statement and balance sheet flux analysis detailing variances in spending, efficiencies, and productivity.
  • Analyze and make assessments of financial statements and related metrics
  • Maintain fixed assets and represent the business units as Fixed Asset Liaison; additionally support tracking NPX projects
  • Support efficient trade working capital practices
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and cost accounting structure to analyze and discuss operational performance including metrics and dashboards
  • Coordinate daily costing activities across local business partners and team in India
  • Develop and maintain overhead rates and executing annual and quarterly current cost rolls
  • Ensure strong control environment and oversee local key controls testing
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce policies and procedures

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ Years of finance/accounting experience, preferably within a global manufacturing company
  • Strong operational (Cost) accounting knowledge
  • LIFO/FIFO inventory accounting knowledge
  • Experience with a standard cost system
