Position Overview
We are adding an Accounting Supervisor to our growing team!
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Aclara Smart Grid Solutions (SGS) business unit by: 1) performing and/or overseeing all requirements and duties pertaining to Project Accounting; 2) supervising and training the Staff Accountants in areas including project accounting, process controls, SOX compliance, and journal entries; 3) assuring daily and month-end financial transactions and adjustments are accurate, reconcilable, and fully compliant; 4) performing special quarterly and ad-hoc cost analysis including updating and improving supporting project models; 5) cross-functionally overseeing process controls including, but not limited to, purchasing activities, customer inventory, vehicle repair & maintenance expenditures and revenues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the optimization of policies and practices pertaining to the JDE accounting system including GL coding, cost allocation to projects and transactional process integrity across the SGS business unit.
- Supervise the Staff Accountants on performance of underlying accounting tasks, inventory and other Blackline reconciliations, and multiple process and compliance controls.
- Partner with Operations/Purchasing and OHF Team members to resolve and or oversee A/P matters and develop practices to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and document most of the monthly journal entries and provide JE training to other team members in an open and empowering manner.
- Update and continually improve customer/project cost models and analysis; partner with FP&A to ensure project forecast models incorporate ongoing developments.
- Lead in the timely completion of the Hubbell month-end tasks including: Stat reporting in HFM; various B/S Flux reports; and accurate and timely completion of account reconciliations in Blackline.
- Continually assess the integrity of SOX controls and lead the task for obtaining, organizing, and transferring requested information to PWC and Hubbell (Internal and SOX) teams.
- Perform as a key contributor regarding monthly/quarterly closings, physical inventories, fixed assets, and ad-hoc matters that arise.
- Prepare Authorization for Expenditure forms (AFE’s) and perform fixed asset physical inventories.
- Responsible for leading, motivating and retaining the team’s talent as well as continuously improving the skill set through training and goal setting.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 6 years’ accounting experience
- 2+ years supervisory experience
- Advanced organizational/time management skills
- Advanced analytical, communication, technology and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) accounting systems (Preferably JD Edwards)
- Advanced Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to effectively solve problems with corporate Finance as well as with other functional areas of company
- Ability to work additional hours as needed, particularly during month/quarter/year-end closings
Preferred:
- Accreditations such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA)
- MBA
