Position Overview
The Sr. Buyer – Indirect West is responsible for executing all non-automated tactical Indirect Material purchasing activities for designated business unit(s) across the Midwest and West coast, including all plants in Mexico for Hubbell, Inc. The position is also responsible for maintaining effective relationships with Business Unit leaders, Product Managers, Sourcing Engineers, and Category Managers to ensure all tactical sourcing activities support the organization’s business needs, strategic goals and financial plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Requisition monitoring and conversion in accordance with Hubbell Purchasing Policy
- Invoicing/ AP resolution as required
- MRBR escalation point and root cause analysis
- Maintain service level for manual PO conversion within 24 hours
- Travel as needed to support business operations, etc. (10% or less)
- Administrate special purchasing programs, as needed
- Support global corporate purchasing activities
- Participate in purchasing related internal meetings, including making presentations to senior management
- Troubleshoot purchasing system issues
- Work toward consistency, alignment, communication, and adoption of best practices to standardize Indirect Purchasing practices
Skills and Experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of buyer experience supporting manufacturing and/or capital projects
- Strong Individual contributor capable of working in a team-based environment
- Negotiation experience- both internal and external
- Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication required
- Must have highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
- Experience working in SAP
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
- Understanding of, or experience working with international logistics
- Degree in a related discipline preferred
