Position Overview

The Director of Industrial Engineering, Logistics is responsible for managing the Logistics Engineering Department at Hubbell, Inc. This includes the design, development and implementation of warehouse layouts, quality and productivity labor standards, design and implementation of automation equipment, supporting site P&Ls, working collaboratively with sites leaders on operational excellence projects and working with in conjunction with IT and IT support to design and implement system / operational improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Hubbell Industrial Engineering Needs to Support Distribution Network Strategy 5 Year Plan.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to implement automation, new sites and site layouts.
  • Evaluate current warehouse practices and identify those needing improvements.
  • Manage labor schedules and coordinate services to maximize productivity with site leaders.
  • Enforce quality control process and procedures.
  • Improve the efficiency of warehouse processes.
  • Evaluate employees’ tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures to tools to improve productivity.
  • Work with site leaders to develop operational excellence projects to create a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support sites culture to manage employee relations and meet all safety and employee corporate polices.
  • Perform data analysis of operational areas data to ensure compliance and recommendation of improvement practices. Review data to formulate operational improvements.
  • Create and distribute various reports that are used to measure Hubbell's logistics performance both cost and efficiency perspectives.
  • Monitor Providers' outstanding invoices. Assure payments are processed timely and to the agreed upon contract terms.
  • Exhibit a professional and ethical attitude at all times.

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with a focus on Industrial Engineering and/or Logistics Operations preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 ( +) years of Industrial Engineering experience is needed
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems, Conveyor Control System and Automation software is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP would be ideal but not required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft products, i.e., Excel, Access, etc. CAD) and data analysis is needed
  • Must possess strong negotiation, process improvement and communication skills
  • Ability to build consensus and sell your objectives within the team and to the business' you serve
