Position Overview
The International Sourcing Manager identifies, evaluates, negotiates, develops, and manages direct material supplier relationships to secure commercial terms, service, and quality that are in the organization’s best interest. Ensures sourcing activities are in alignment with corporate category strategies and acts as the liaison between Residential lighting product managers, brand managers, engineering, offshore sourcing and quality teams, and any department may need specialized sourcing assistance. This role supports Progress Lighting and working with closely with our Asia market.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Lead/support supplier sourcing, evaluation and selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Develop, distribute, collect, and analyze Requests for Quote (RFQs); subsequently organize and present analytics internally to support vendor selection
- Develop and maintain strong partnership with external vendors, including supplier site visits
- Track and report supplier health; monitor annual spend, business trends, and manufacturing capabilities
- Work closely with Product Management & Engineering, to develop and maintain a strong supply chain to meet the design, quality, and costs required for our company’s success
- Monitor material cost trend and negotiate pricing periodically with assigned vendors on basis of raw material, currency exchange rates, business growth/volume, and economic conditions
- Develop strategies for risk mitigation in supply chain
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in sourcing or procurement preferred; 6-10 years of experience in lieu of degree accepted
- Experience in residential lighting strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, project management and relationship building skills
- Flexibility working across multiple time zones
- Strong analytical, business process analysis and problem-solving capabilities
- High motivation and results-oriented work ethic
- Willingness to travel as needed, domestic and international (approx. 20%)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite (focus on Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, & Outlook)
- Working knowledge of SAP strongly preferred
