Division Overview
Hubbell Commercial & Industrial (HCI) provides solutions for a broad range of non-residential and residential construction, commercial and industrial applications along with high-voltage test and measurement solutions. Position Overview
The Buyer will research and purchase products goods and services in support of manufacturing, ensuring a competitive price and meeting quality and delivery standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Purchases and maintains goods and services required for manufacturing.
- Ensure on-time delivery of purchased items.
- Seek to cut costs by competitive purchasing techniques.
- Ensure items purchased match requirements of purchase order.
- Locate and evaluate subcontractors.
- Provide vendor sourcing: analyze bids, locate and qualify vendors, request quotations from qualified vendors, and negotiate and complete purchase agreements.
- Provide pricing of materials and lead times of parts for customer requests and new products.
- Self-directed and takes a proactive role in solving problems related to purchased goods anticipating problems and seeking solutions
Skills and Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Three to five years’ experience of SAP or MRP business systems required.
- Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
