Division Overview

Hubbell Utility Systems (HUS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HUS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HUS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HUS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Support the Solon warehouse with expert knowledge on domestic and international shipping, receiving and material handling. Maintains accurate inventory records. Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. Provides training and direction to Warehouse Associate(s). Proactively monitors customer’s orders to ensure on-time shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, and/or delivery of products, parts, and materials to support the business.
  • Train and mentor warehouse associate(s) and share knowledge of best practices in shipping and warehousing.
  • Communicates and schedules full truckload shipments to support customer orders and/or movement of materials.
  • Documents information relating to receipts, warehousing, and shipping of product by completing transactions in ERP system as required, and filing paper copied where required.
  • Pull and pack product for use on production floor or for customer shipments. Review pick lists to ensure that all required items are included.
  • Interface with Customers to arrange shipment (truck carrier or UPS) for product returns.
  • Work with Planning department to release and stage work orders to the production floor
  • Work with Buyer to resolve any PO receiving or quantity issues.
  • Trouble-shoot problems and discrepancies; refer others to Manager in a timely manner.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as directed to support continuous improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Must have 5-10 years of experience in shipping/receiving using an ERP business system.
  • Experience using Forklift and Warehouse picker
  • Good interpersonal/team/mentoring skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, pay attention to detail, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have “hands on” computer experience with warehouse transactions, preferably in an ERP environment.
