Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Position Overview

This position requires attaching lead wires or terminals to the copper wire, securing and insulating these connectors from each other prior to applying insulating material and the nameplate to the outside layer of the unit per design requirements. Lead installation requires the use of hand tools and operating hydraulic or manual hand crimping tools to crimp connectors used to splice copper wire to lead wire or terminals. Finishing requires using taping machine and the ability to apply finishing insulation material by hand.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that work practices are in the guidelines of OSHA standards

Perform operation in an efficient manner

Follow all safety rules and quality requirements

Perform Total Preventive Maintenance duties and pre-inspection of Copper wound parts

Verify correct materials are used per design requirements

Assure that all products meet the highest standard of quality

Know the difference and be able to identify magnet wire types as well as imperfections and crossed wires

Proficient with hand tools (hand crimpers, pliers, mallets, etc)

Ability to measure and understand dimensions using standard and metric measuring devices

Record operational data on specified forms or computer software

Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to operate hydraulic crimpers

Ability to alter, trim and attach materials per work instructions such as wire, insulation and tape

Must be able to set up finishing machine, understanding settings and functions, and ensure machine is running properly to avoid unnecessary down time

Ability to operate a hoist properly and safely

Skills and Experience

Read, use, and understand measuring devices

Have the ability to stand for extensive periods of time

Be punctual, reliable and have a good work ethic

Must be able to work independently and foster teamwork with others

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills

Able to lift, traverse up to 50 pounds at a time

Repetitive movements

Must be able to bend or twist body

Able to grip, grasp, pinch multi use of fingers and hands

Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temper

Education

High School Diploma
