Position Overview
Able to operate all equipment used in executing metal finishing operations by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Loads and unloads tote pans of parts, stacks parts in baskets, racks, and/or barrels, racks, un-racks, cleans, etches, desmuts, pickles, bright-dips, dyes, degreases, heat treats, plates, coats, wet processes and dries parts.
- Fills basket, rack and/or barrel with parts to be processed and lowers materials into appropriate tank. Determines time parts are to remain in tank and follows prescribed procedures.
- Removes parts when process is complete.
- Maintains cleanliness of tanks and work areas.
- Monitors temperatures of solutions.
- Maintains daily production logs.
- Physically inspects processing to ensure quality of product.
- May be required to perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance and record keeping as needed.
- May be asked to troubleshoot with programmable controls.
- Works with laboratory to ensure proper chemical maintenance and solution control.
- Gives assistance to inexperienced personnel as needed. Is responsible for quality of product produced.
- May be required to be trained in proper handling of hazardous waste in accordance with 40 CFR 265.16
- May also be required to be trained in 24 hour Emergency Response in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120
- Performs other duties as required.
