Position Overview

Able to operate all equipment used in executing metal finishing operations by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Loads and unloads tote pans of parts, stacks parts in baskets, racks, and/or barrels, racks, un-racks, cleans, etches, desmuts, pickles, bright-dips, dyes, degreases, heat treats, plates, coats, wet processes and dries parts.
  • Fills basket, rack and/or barrel with parts to be processed and lowers materials into appropriate tank. Determines time parts are to remain in tank and follows prescribed procedures.
  • Removes parts when process is complete.
  • Maintains cleanliness of tanks and work areas.
  • Monitors temperatures of solutions.
  • Maintains daily production logs.
  • Physically inspects processing to ensure quality of product.
  • May be required to perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance and record keeping as needed.
  • May be asked to troubleshoot with programmable controls.
  • Works with laboratory to ensure proper chemical maintenance and solution control.
  • Gives assistance to inexperienced personnel as needed. Is responsible for quality of product produced.
  • May be required to be trained in proper handling of hazardous waste in accordance with 40 CFR 265.16
  • May also be required to be trained in 24 hour Emergency Response in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120
  • Performs other duties as required.
