Division Overview

Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. HUS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HUS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The HUS segment finance team is seeking an experienced and proven finance professional to work directly with our senior leadership team and corporate business development to evaluate acquisition targets, model financial outcomes and ultimately lead the financial integration of acquired companies. The successful candidate should have a unique combination of experiences in controllership, financial planning & analysis, operations accounting, and large project management along with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization. This position will report to the HUS VP of FP&A.


As a member of the segment finance leadership team the successful candidate will also contribute to other strategic initiatives and major projects as well as the professional development and resiliency of the broader financial organization.

Roles and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

  • Work directly with segment leadership, general management and corporate business development to evaluate and model potential acquisition targets. Ensure financial scenarios are well thought out, properly reflect the input of broader team and that the acquisition model is duly approved prior to Indication of Value and Approval to Close the transaction.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party Valuation Team and External Auditors
  • Collaborate all financial due diligence and integration with the acquiring HUS business unit, along with segment controllership, corporate accounting, tax and treasury. Proactively engage with the broader deal team to evaluate their due diligence findings, and where impactful to the financial model, guide further diligence necessary for qualification and incorporation into the acquisition financial model.
  • Lead implementation of/Educate acquired business on Hubbell’s financial processes, controls and reporting. Work with general management to align the acquired business’s financial plan and forecast to the acquisition model.
  • Create Financial Structure in SAP and perform account mapping to ensure Financials are properly loaded from legacy system to SAP to Onestream.
  • Support acquired business Financial Team through their first two Month-end Closings under Hubbell Ownership.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of acquired businesses to the acquisition model, providing leadership with timely and relevant report outs. Collaborate with the acquiring business unit to ensure alignment on critical performance metrics and where appropriate, development of corrective action plans to ensure that the overall acquisition strategic and financial targets are met.
  • Work with the acquired business to develop daily, weekly and monthly financial dashboards to track KPIs to ensure the leadership team has timely and relevant visibility to the operating performance and cadence of the business.
  • Develop finance resource plans for targeted acquisitions, their assimilation into Hubbell, along with integration into the HUS career planning and talent development processes.

Required Qualifications (Education and Experience Requirements)

  • 10+ years of finance experience in a large publicly traded manufacturing company.
  • Strong background in controllership, technical accounting and financial consolidation as well as partnering with the broader business team on new product | business development, restructuring, operational support, and product costing.
  • Experience building multi-year strategic plans, annual operating plans and short-term forecasts based on a thorough understanding of core financial statements and the underlying business drivers.
  • Ability to quickly build financial models based upon available, and often limited data, by drawing upon prior experiences and knowledge to predict financial outcomes. Guide acquiring business and their general manager through alternative scenarios for consideration to quantify the most likely financial outcome, worst- and best-case scenarios.
  • Ability to work independently and to concurrently lead and manage multiple large projects. The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator proactively addressing potential issues with general management, the segment leadership team and corporate business development.
  • Experience in acquisitions and integration of financial processes and systems.
  • Approximately to travel ~40% of the time, as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • CPA or master’s degree preferred.
