Position Overview

Operates equipment that smoothest, buff, or polishes metal surfaces

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stop any machines upon discovery of a problem and make the required adjustments as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
  • Provide quality control by inspecting workpieces as they come out of the equipment and removing any defective pieces.
  • Operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind any metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products.
  • Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.
  • Keep all equipment running by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed.
  • Perform basic repairs, including replacing parts when they are worn down or broken, within the scope of expected knowledge and expertise.
  • Assists all supervisor and perform other duties as needed and directed.

Skills and Experience

  • Poses and able to use inspections equipment to ensure the quality of the parts being produced. Must be equipped with all required tools to perform the functions of their job.
  • Physically able to do the work requiring frequent standing, bending and lifting up to 12 lbs. frequently and 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work order instructions and prepare simple production reports.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machine and inspect parts.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate the equipment properly.
  • Must be able to stand 8 to 10 hours days.
  • Assist all supervisor and perform other duties as needed and directed
