Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate all machine tools in the EDM room including but not limited to, Ram’s, Wire’s, and CNC machining centers.
  • Capable and qualified to operate conventional mills, grinders, and lathes.
  • Work to tolerances of +/- .0005”.
  • Produce tooling components and any other parts normally produced in the Tool Room through verbal instruction, drawings, sketches, and machine programs.
  • Create, edit, and interpret CAD generated programs.
  • Verify new machine programs to insure parts are made to detailed engineering specifications.
  • Program EDM machines with or without the use of a CAD/Cam terminal.
  • Oversee to completion the repair and new fabrication of tooling, such as but not limited to molds, stamping dies and forging dies.
  • Will be required to train others in the department to help increase new as well as existing individuals’ knowledge and ability.
  • Schedule work flow through the ram or wire machines as required.
  • Reports directly to shift supervisor but may be given direction by other assigned and authorized individuals in the department or organization.
  • May be required to do work of equal or lower classification.

Skills and Experience

  • May be required to perform various other duties in the department, such as operate material handling equipment, forklift, crane, or other non-routine tasks as assigned. Will be required to furnish own hand tools, as well as measuring tools, and all other recommended tools for now and the future.

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree from an appropriate technical school preferred. Equivalent experience and other credentials will be evaluated for qualification.
