Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Foreman is responsible for leading an installer team to ensure each member safely and efficiently replaces electric, water, or gas meters on residential or commercial property.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieve standards of safety, productivity and quality of work.
  • Assign, prioritize and monitor work of meter installers, including tracking installations.
  • Train/re-train installers in proper safety and installation processes.
  • Respond to emergency and other special situations as requested by installer team.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional courteous manner.
  • Accurately collect customer data and document installations in writing and with handheld device.
  • Report attendance, behavior, performance problems to assigned supervisor.
  • Check existing meter, install replacement meter, and perform final meter test.
  • Meet daily assigned quota of installs.

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-year meter installation or utility experience.
  • Dependable, detail oriented, good verbal skills and a neat/clean appearance.
  • Ability to use assigned tools properly and work within safety guidelines.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with customers while upholding Aclara - SGS customer standards.
  • Current member of local union in good standing with no disciplinary actions on file for previous six months.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • PC skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Valid Driver's License and a clean MVR in the past 3 years.

Preferred:

  • Previous meter installation experience on project where vacancy exists.

Physical Demand:

  • Frequent walking, standing, grasping, sitting, bending and stooping up to 10 hours per day in all types of weather conditions.
  • 25% – 50% travel.
  • Willingness to relocate, as needed.
