Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Foundry Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a Foundry Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in the production and improvement of our foundry operations. Your expertise in foundry processes, equipment, and materials will contribute to the overall success and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. What You Will Do

  • Foundry Process Management:
    • Develop and implement efficient foundry processes to optimize production output and quality.
    • Conduct process evaluations, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process enhancements and cost reduction initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Equipment and Tooling Management:
    • Manage the selection, installation, and maintenance of foundry equipment and tools.
    • Collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and develop preventive maintenance programs.
    • Implement corrective actions to address equipment-related inefficiencies or failures.
  • Quality Assurance and Control:
    • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with product specifications and standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address customer concerns and improve product quality.
    • Analyze quality data and implement measures to reduce defects and improve overall product performance.
  • Process Documentation and Training:
    • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for foundry processes.
    • Train and educate production personnel on proper process execution and quality standards.
    • Continuously monitor process performance and provide ongoing training and support to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. This would include Capital Projects.
    • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and techniques to drive process improvements.
    • Identify opportunities for automation or technological advancements to streamline operations.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in foundry manufacturing processes, including sand casting, investment casting, or die casting.
  • Strong knowledge of foundry equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in process optimization and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to industry standards.
