Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Able to perform basic quality inspections referring to part drawing – visual, using basic measurement tools such as pin gages, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Perform CMM inspections on parts and assemblies to ensure that they meet required specifications and standards.
  • Create and update inspection plans and procedures for use with CMMs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Use various measurement tools such as micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators to supplement CMM data and provide additional quality assurance.
  • Document inspection results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Analyze inspection data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate with production personnel and engineers to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality standards and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in CMM technology and quality assurance techniques.

Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical training in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or inspection, with at least 2 years of experience operating CMM equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of CMM software and the interpretation of CMM data.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, math data, reports, instructions and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with a variety of measurement tools and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is a plus.
