Position Overview

Perform depot repair, field service and technical support on standard and specialty systems to internal and external customers. Technicians in this position will be required to consistently demonstrate the ability to accept and complete assignments involving our most complex systems, including ICD, Cableform, and Austdac communication and control systems plus other GAI-Tronics mining products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • ​​​​​Provide field service at domestic and international customer locations for standard equipment and medium-complexity custom equipment.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical tests on components, circuit board assemblies, and complete controller assemblies.
  • Evaluate electromechanical control assemblies to determine the appropriate tests required to validate full functionality.
  • Work safely with DC supply voltages up to 500 volts and AC supply voltages up to 6600 volts.
  • Evaluate electromechanical control assemblies to determine the appropriate tests required to validate full functionality.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical circuits to component level.
  • Perform new system add-on equipment start-up.
  • Perform cable terminations.
  • Perform depot repairs on Austdac and GAI-Tronics-manufactured product lines relative to the local district/ region.
  • Provide technical support, via telephone, to customers and sales representatives.
  • Provide installation/ project management assistance to contractors and end user personnel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

Skills:

  • Self-motivated and a good communicator
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good mechanical skills for repairing and adjusting electromechanical devices
  • Ability to read/ interpret schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to apply math skills to solve formulas in relation to electrical circuits
  • Ability to read and follow detailed, written instructions
  • Excellent organizational/ prioritization skills
  • Proficient in computer operation (Excel, Word, etc...)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand/ walk 10-90% of work day
  • Occasional bending and squatting required
  • Occasional lifting required (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to work on overhead crane catwalks greater than 20 feet above ground level
  • Ability to work in underground mining environment

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally be on call nights and weekends for customer phone support up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to travel, including possible international travel, up to 25% or work time (travel may include weekends and/ or holidays)
  • Willing to receive necessary industry training including, but not limited to OSHA 10, MSHA and any industry certifications
  • Must possess or be able to obtain valid passport
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in harsh environmental conditions at customer locations
