Division Overview
Hubbell Utility Solutions (HUS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HUS is also deeply engaged in product solutions for the Utility Communications and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) space and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HUS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HUS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas, and water industries.

HUS has four business units. Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) is our electrical components and infrastructure business. Aclara is our AMI and Meters business and also includes an installation business. Hubbell Gas Connectors and Accessories (HGCA) sells connectors and accessories for the repair, replacement and refurbishment of natural gas systems. Our fourth business is our Protection and Controls business which is our newest business initiative to drive substation communications, control and protection solutions. HUS provides these solutions in the Electric Utility, Water, Gas and Communications Market.

Position Overview

This Project Manager will coordinate multiple Professional Services customer project implementations of Aclara’s innovative enterprise AMI products and work collaboratively with a team of customers, project managers, systems engineers, product managers, business analysts, developers and other Aclara resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with customers and the implementation teams to deliver successful on-time implementations.
  • Provide consulting, coaching, and training to the customer on key aspects and considerations of the solutions that Aclara will design and implement.
  • Provide a consolidated delivery across multiple customer implementations simultaneously by ensuring consistency among deliverables, communication, and approach.
  • Thoroughly understand delivery contracts and provide representation internally and to the customer.
  • Work with peer Professional Service Project Managers to oversee internal deployment resources or third-party vendors required to meet needs of projects.
  • Coordinate communication between customer and internal resources to facilitate shared expectations.
  • Compile and review project deliverables.
  • Create weekly status reports identifying consolidated project issues, risks, and status.
  • Create and manage implementation schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate delivery of Aclara internal tasks across multiple departments including ordering, product management, field resources, training, and software configuration.
  • Utilize Project/Portfolio Management Software for tracking and reporting of all project artifacts, aspects of financial tracking, issue/risk tracking, and resource management of assigned projects.
  • Manage customer interactions and ensure satisfaction while minimizing project risk.
  • Manage financial responsibility of projects to guarantee on-budget delivery.
  • Serves as initial point of escalation for project issues and risks via industry experience and best practice in leading the project team and customer toward resolution and recovery planning.
  • Lead strong client relationships through collaboration, timely communications and expectation setting.
  • Ensure ownership of contract SLAs and milestones for project and program success

Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Required:

  • Must reside in Puerto Rico
  • Must speak Spanish and English
  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree
o In lieu of a degree, at least ten (10) years of experience will be considered, specifically in major account project management.
  • Knowledge and experience working with utility system operations and modernization planning
  • Experience with implementation of utility related programs such as
 AMI/AMR system deployment
 Meter data management system implementation
 Basics of introducing metering or upgrades to metering solutions
 Experience with planning and expansion strategies used by Utilities
  • Three (3) or more years of directly relevant experience as a Project Manager, responsible for the implementation of complex software or hardware applications.
  • Experience in managing third-party vendors, construction vendors, hardware installation vendors, services vendors
  • Ability to work within a team of project managers reporting up to a program manager and executive leadership
  • Experience in hardware forecasting, procurement, and inventory management
  • Proven success in driving implementation projects to completion.
  • Ability to establish a natural rapport through customer facing experience and relationship-building skills up through C-level utility and organization levels.
  • Demonstrated verbal, written, presentation skills and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong problem solving, identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.

Preferred:

  • Direct water AMR/AMI or Water Utility industry experience
  • Certifications: PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Professional
  • Experience with OnePlan Strategic Project/Portfolio Management Software or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Work Order Management Systems (WOMS), relational databases, such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Big 4 or other major consulting firm experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites or Aclara offices up to 75% of the time
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting
