Position Overview

Plans, directs, and coordinates Metal Finishing Engineering processes by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with Metal Finishing processes and methods to minimize waste and increase the quality of products
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Develop new and enhance monitoring and testing processes to provide increased capability and process control
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Monitor process equipment to identify potential errors, develop solutions to eliminate abnormalities
  • Ensure engineered solutions focus on reducing downtime, maintenance costs, and maintain or increase production levels while improving output, quality, and safety
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
  • Provide support and required documentation for all metal finishing operations including waste treatment equipment and processes
  • Responsible for compliance with local state and federal rules, regulations, and statuteds relating to hazardous materials and required reporting, including Hazmat transportation and manifests and industrial waste treatment

Skills and Experience

  • Two to five years related experience in industrial metal finishing/plating
  • Wet Chemistry and AA solution analysis
  • XRF thickness equipment experience
  • SDS understanding & evaluation
  • HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, Emergency Action Plans, LERP’s, and Spill Response
  • OSHA, EPA, DOT, NHDES (preferred) direct experience, training, and certification
  • CAD experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Layouts, equipment positioning, and workflows
  • Work Instruction development, and ISO:9001 internal & external audits
  • SPCC, SWPP, and IDP programs
  • 40-Hour Emergency Response Training required due to hazards associated with chemical and hazardous waste handling in the facility required by 29 CFR 1910.120
  • Hazardous Waste Operations training required by 29 CFR 265.16, 40 CFR 265.16, 49 CFR 171-172
  • Hazardous Waste Coordinator (training by NHDES will be required)
  • UST Training (training by NHDES will be required)

Required Qualifications

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short memos, and correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rate, ration, and percentages.
  • REASONING ABILITY:
Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • OTHER SKIILLS and ABILITIES:
Must have a basic understanding of chemistry as it applies to the job; an understanding of chemical wastewater treatment, and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
