Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Performs inspections of incoming parts from vendors and performs in-process inspection on a variety of assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure conformance to part specifications and to the Company’s quality standard, is maintained. Executes inventory transactions and maintains records on SAP. Works within ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Documents non-compliance and maintains quality records and statistics. Works closely with the Materials Review Board to address quality issues. May assist with calibration lab activities and interface with calibration suppliers. Reports to the Quality Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on parts, components and materials in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System.
  • Performs circuit board inspections using AOI test bed.
  • Ensures that all measurement equipment is calibrated.
  • Responsible for compiling reject reports.
  • Works with Quality Engineer, Production and Purchasing to move non-conforming material through the MRB process.
  • Performs on-line inventory transactions and maintains inspection records on PC.
  • Maintain the calibration of equipment and database.
  • Occasional overtime will be required.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience inspecting electronic parts in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electronic precision measuring instruments.
  • Prior experience in an ISO 9001 quality management environment helpful.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
  • PC experience & experience operating AOI equipment desirable
  • ASQ Quality Technician Certification preferred
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt preferred
