Position Overview
The Inside Sales Representative will take a proactive selling role to drive increased sales across all vertical markets. The inside sales team will also assist our outside team to improve productivity and increase face-to-face ability of outside sales personnel. Confidence to make outgoing calls to distributors and end users is a must. This is an evolving position so the candidate must be comfortable with changing roles and modified work requirements as the market changes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively contact distributors, electrical contractors, design engineers and end users to quote projects, and follow up on previous quotations to close sales.
- Prospect for new customers using various software resources. Communicate prospects with field sales personnel.
- Coordinate the information flow between TM and other departments to efficiently handle and respond to; customer orders, expedite requests, technical/product questions, quotations (new and renewal), return/credit requests, new customer applications, product modifications, literature & sample requests, and general inquiries.
- Maintain a strong technical understanding of all products and programs and how they relate to Industry standards in order to provide technical/product support.
- Handle incoming calls from TM relative to the quotation process. Enter quotes into the online quote tool and facilitate the timely response to all requests for special discounted pricing with the goal of increasing sales and profits.
- Cross-reference competitive bills of material from TM for the purpose of converting job quotations and bids into new sales opportunities.
- Create Submittals from Submittal builder tool for distributors and customers.
- Work with District Manager and Regional VP’s to determine proactive sales opportunities that will grow business in each territory.
- Establish relationships with our distributor partners that result in growth of discretionary business.
Skills and Experience
- Four-year degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years of customer service / sales support experience or High School diploma with a minimum of 10 years of related customer service, sales support, pricing and technical support experience within the electrical industry.
- Good working knowledge of salesforce preferred.
- Inside or Outside Sales experience preferred.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to handle delicate situations with both internal and external customers.
- SAP R/3 knowledge a plus.
- Must also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- The individual in this position is an active contributor towards sales growth and profitability by providing optimum service to the Hubbell Electrical Products Group businesses.
