Position Overview

The role of the AP Senior Manager is as follows:

  • Lead the Hubbell global Accounts Payable function (including Travel & Expense Processing) to achieve benchmark levels of customer service, productivity, compliance, asset management, technology deployment, and personnel organizational health.
  • Develop strategies for best-in-class processes and for creating an efficient organization supporting the global Hubbell Accounts Payable (AP) structure.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Leadership

  • Provide management accountability, oversight, and support to the portfolio of functions under AP, which includes managing insourced and outsourced services and vendors.
  • Ensuring seamless process integration and integrity between retained services in the business units, and insourced and outsourced services provided by OHF, third-party outsourcing providers, and service vendors.
  • Manage the AP function plan and forecast to meet cost and productivity objectives.
  • Oversee and monitor Hubbell and outsourcing provider compliance with required SOX and audit control objectives, including identification and implementation of remediation action plans.
  • Coordinate, update, and implement disaster recovery planning when necessary.

Performance Management

  • Develop, update, and review all service levels and key performance metrics for the AP processes, both from the Hubbell and outsourced services.
  • Provide monthly reporting and lead performance discussions with business executives and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate and timely cash flow forecasting, including monitoring and improving Days Payables Outstanding and other key cash flow metrics, in partnership with Treasury and the business units.
  • Monitor and analyze AP data to provide meaningful business insights, identifying and implementing new analytics dashboards as needed.
  • Monitor outsourced service performance and provide feedback to the outsourced third party, ensuring corrective action implemented for any performance gaps.
  • Establish, update, and implement process standards to balance the needs of the business with the efficiencies of the shared services functions.
  • Lead cross enterprise teams to develop future processes to achieve functional goals while ensuring that critical business objectives are not adversely impacted.

Project Leadership

  • Work with the business and the outsourcing provider to identify process and technology gaps, develop new projects, gain approval and alignment, and implement new solutions.
  • Define requirements and select new tools/technologies to improve AP performance, services, and controls.
  • Lead transition and implementation of new AP tools/technologies.
  • Accountable for the successful completion of transformation initiatives on time, within budget, and according to specifications
  • Provide oversight to SAP integration activities for AP functions, including training and rollout to new business units.

Business Partner

  • Ensure the AP organization provides timely, accurate, and responsive customer service to business stakeholders and vendors.
  • Develop and prioritize strategic initiatives with business stakeholders including identifying barriers and establishing solutions in collaborative manner.
  • Gain buy-in and support from business and corporate stakeholders for AP projects and priorities.
  • Serve as interpreter as needed between the outsourcing providers, vendors, and the business stakeholders, advocating for the business stakeholders.

People Leadership

  • Serve as leader and mentor to the Hubbell and outsourcing provider AP organizations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to the Hubbell and outsourcing provider team members.
  • Identify and manage career development and growth opportunities for the AP team.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or similar
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and SAP
  • 10+ years of experience in financial leadership, ideally in the AP function
  • Strong people and organizational change leadership
  • Experience in business process outsourcing in finance and accounting functions
  • Experience in managing multiple large-scale projects
  • Experience in leveraging a broad range of technology solutions, such as automation and data analytics tools
  • Experience in managing competing needs of business, corporate, and shared services stakeholders
  • Strong project management capability with deadline focus
