Position Overview

Under direct Supervision of the Quality Manager, the Lead Inspector will direct execution of the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department to include, monitoring and support of all Inspectors, vacation coverage, management and execution of special projects, conflict resolution, and Supervisory Team support in the absence of the Quality Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist and resolve quality issues on the production floor.

Support 4 Quality Inspector team members to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. Delegates project tasks to Quality Inspectors as directed by the Quality Manager

Monitors the compliance of processes and associated records to company SOPs and Work Instruction requirements.

Work collaboratively with inter-department and cross-functional teams to affect necessary changes in a timely and productive manner.

Attend Supervisory meetings in the absence of the Quality Manager as the designated representative of the Quality Department.

Assists in training of Production and Quality Staff. Provide oversite of proper documentation of training activities and work instruction compliance.

Understand equipment, commissioning procedures, pre-start up requirements, process controls and identify issues effecting efficiencies and assists in developing solutions.

Support on-time closure of notifications and perform Root Cause Analysis of notifications as assigned/requested by Quality/Operations Management individuals.

Responsible for purchasing and inventory management of Quality Dept consumable items as well as purchasing external gage calibration services as required.

Coordinate communications and issue resolution between Lincoln and other Burndy sites to include Littleton, Manchester and Londonderry Light Manufacturing / Distribution Center

Required Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

3-5 years’ experience/employment in a Quality related field

Formal Certification or Education in the field of Quality by a recognized organization. (ASQ, ASME, ANSI)

  • Professional leadership and interpersonal skills, communication skills, and team-orientated mentality,
Process management, manufacturing methods and procedures, and ability to analyze, research and report findings, Delegation, decision-making, and planning and organizing abilities.

Knowledge of electronic communication apps/software and basic computer skills are a must. Ability to write/edit reports, business correspondence, and procedures is required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public is highly desired.
