Nuseed is looking for an Agronomist to support Parent Seed Production, Hybrid Production, and Production of primarily Sunflowers in our Yolo, CA production site. The agronomist will aid research efforts in both California and occasionally Washington. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations at the cage production site, and other field sites throughout the Northern California growing region. This role may require extended trips outside of the local production area to monitor remote Nuseed production. The agronomist will manage all requests for foreign registration trials, demo and university samples.
The Opportunity:
- Manage cage site
- Coordinate and monitor production, planting through harvest
- Conduct stand counts, perform inspections and rouge fields as necessary and required
- Support Foundation and Hybrid Production
- Focus on basic & hybrid seed genetic seed quality
- Process crop for storage and sampling
- Oversee small sample processing
- Support warehouse activities post growing season
- Data Entry and Analysis through spreadsheets/databases as well as internal production system SMP and NetSuite
- Coordinate and manage activities between Nuseed Woodland and growers and other vendors affiliated with such activities
- Create and maintain grower and third party relationships
- Focus on pre-basic and basic seed genetic seed quality
- Oversee small sample processing
- Process crop for storage and sampling
- Assist warehouse team in processing cage production lots, processing parent test yield samples, and creating samples for testing purposes
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license
The ideal Agronomist will have a BS in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related Agricultural field. Are you experienced in breeder seed handling and increasing high quality foundation seed? Do you have a background in agriculture, with a focus on seed production and processing?
