Nuseed has an exciting opportunity for a Production Agronomist. Reporting to the Brassicas Production Manager, this role will support parent seed production, hybrid production, and production research efforts in North America. The Production Agronomist will assist in managing the relationship with 3rd party seed production and processing. The role will focus its responsibilities on seed production including contracting, planting, producing to plan, scouting & observations prior to bloom, rogueing, harvest coordination and grower compensation. The Production Agronomist will be expected to take extended trips to production seed fields outside the local production area. During the fall and winter months, the role may require time spent within the warehouse, assisting the technicians in the processing of production lots, processing parent test yield samples, and creating samples for testing purposes. During the winter months, the role will require data entry in excel or access databases as well as our internal production system SMP and use of Netsuite.

The Opportunity:

  • Assist in managing Hybrid Canola and Sunflower Production
  • Contract seed acres with reliable growers
  • Plant fields to planting specifications
  • Monitor field production by conducting field observations throughout growing season
  • Monitor and improve Hybrid Seed Genetics quality
  • Assist with processing crop for storage and sampling
  • Assist production facility during Fall and winter, processing production lots and other warehouse duties
    • Prepare parent seed yield samples
    • Create and prepare samples for testing purposes.
  • Data entry through spreadsheets/databases as well as internal production system SMP, NetSuite or others as required
  • Create and maintain grower and third-party relationships
  • Travel to Contra Season regions as necessary
  • Assist in managing activities between Nuseed and 3rd parties toll producers and processors in North America
  • Must maintain and possess a valid drivers license

Nuseed is looking for a candidate with a bachelors in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field, with 3-5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in Canola and Sunflower seed production and seed processing. The Production Agronomist will have strong communication skills, be a team player, while being consistent and reliable in their work, performance, and dedication to providing high quality Foundation and Hybrid Seed.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $105,000 USD

Nuseed takes several factors into consideration when determining salary ranges. These factors include, but are not limited to, candidate experience, education, geographical location, and industry. Nuseed roles are incentive eligible and offer a robust benefit package that are not reflected in the noted salary range.
