- Position Summary
At Nuseed our ability to grow our strategic segments is critical to our success. This Global Seeds & Traits Strategy Lead will provide strategic leadership to the business and is accountable to optimize growth and return from our strategic asset investments in the seeds portfolio and create enablement to grow in downstream Nutritional (Omega-3) and Bioenergy feedstocks (Carinata, Energy Cane, Etc.). Managing the review process to reallocate and determine optimal timing of resource shifts from non-strategic to strategic segments and accountability for pipeline optimization of hybrid seed enabled strategies in Carinata and Omeg-3 while leveraging and optimizing the capabilities and footprint from the broader business will be keys to success.
- Position Objectives & Primary Responsibilities
- Accountable for the 10 year long range plan business cases, investment, and milestone plans to deliver on strategic segments, with cross accountability of seed technology into down-stream segments of omega 3 and carinata oil
- Accountable for global crop-based objectives, P&L budget, and ROA including asset, balance sheet, ongoing investment, and lifecycle management
- Accountable for review & alignment of regional and R&D budgets toward the strategic asset priorities and objectives. This role will hold the primary budget and capital approval authority relating to strategic assets.
- Lead 3rd party out licensing and co-development agreements for identified segments to generate earlier technology monetization, validation and partnerships. This requires monthly project management office activities & delivery of a minimum budget delivery in co-development &/or license fee realized within 24 months
- Lead technology access assessment and negotiation from 3rd parties when required
- Partner with Global R&D Leader and Regional GM to ensure full strategic segment delivery & coordination into commercialization phase with alignment to 3-year budgets and LRP’s.
- Lead Global Crop teams with clear objectives, strategies and outcomes to optimize the strategic assets
- Chair Nuseed Global Innovations meetings, actions, tracking, and decision points

- Position-Specific Skills & Experience
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture and specifically the development of strategic objections and clear, achievable execution plans
- Experience and a proven track record of success in leading teams using influence, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to effectively communicate, motivate and lead in a remote environment.
- Ability to think big picture and envision new technology opportunities that can sit inside or adjacent to our current business models.
- Ability to travel 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally. An openness to 1-2 extended trips a year into core seed geographies (Europe; Brazil; Argentina; Australia) to ensure connection with and oversight to commercial segment validation, commercial alignment with the long range plan, pipeline advancement, investment requirements and R&D product development delivery.
Salary Range: $175,000-235,000 USD
Nuseed takes several factors into consideration when determining salary ranges. These factors include, but are not limited to, candidate experience, education, geographical location, and industry. Nuseed roles are incentive eligible and offer a robust benefit package that are not reflected in the noted salary range.
