Nuseed Americas has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team, at our Woodland location. The Quality Assurance Technician will support the operational needs for North America Supply Chain, which means this role is a point of contact for the region on all quality assurance. This person will be responsible for the ensuring the business is supported and educated to address and mitigate quality assurance risks in critical control points in a timely and proactive manner. This person enjoys a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for receiving, handling, conducting, and coordinating QA samples for testing on all crops in the region. Other activities will be uploading QA test results in a timely manner into the company’s ERP system.

The Opportunity:

  • Supporting parent seed production, hybrid production and production research efforts across the US and Canada
  • Direct involvement in the day-to-day operation in the production lab; this includes QA sampling, data reporting action planning, problem solving and collaborating with other persons in the Nuseed business
  • This role will also be responsible for scouting Isolation zones around production fields. During the fall and winter months, the role may require time spent within the warehouse, assisting the technicians in the processing of the cage production lots, processing parent test yield samples, and creating samples for testing purposes
  • During winter months the role will require data entry in excel or access databases as well as our internal production system SMP
  • Executing all Lab Activities from harvest through final packaged product
  • They will be responsible for carry-over quality sampling and analysis, aid in the grow out process locally and through the 3rd party quality partnerships Nuseed has globally.
  • Manage all lab testing and grow outs to ensure they are done for both parent and commercial seed lots, both new and carryover at different growth/processing strategies and locations according to QA protocols
  • Provide oversight of SMP for quality resting and data entry and storage ensuring a functioning process for quality inventory management
  • Use the data in the system as the authoritative data source and coordinate with the production and commercial teams to drive data driven quality decision-making
  • Process crop for storage and sampling
  • QA governance on QMS, SOPs, SMP, NDRs, CPAs, Audit)
  • Oversee small sample processing
  • Coordinate and deliver QA training needs for the region
  • Provide monthly QA update to GM and Global QA Lead
  • Support Commercial and Parent seed Field inspection program.
  • Coordinate the planting and reading of grow outs for other regions in California

Nuseed is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician with a Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related Agricultural field or equivalent work experience. The ideal candidate understands they will be required to spend time out in the fields throughout the planting season. They have and will maintain a valid driver’s license, a basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and are able to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000USD

Nuseed takes several factors into consideration when determining salary ranges. These factors include, but are not limited to, candidate experience, education, geographical location, and industry. Nuseed roles are incentive eligible and offer a robust benefit package that are not reflected in the noted salary range.
