Company Description
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 10,000 employees and generated over $500 billion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries. Every 28 seconds, an entrepreneur on Shopify makes their first sale.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, ambiguity and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
- Bring critical thought and opinion — and embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
- Work digital-first for your daily work
Job Description
We are seeking a bar raise; a leader with strong business acumen who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where priorities shift frequently. You should have a strong appetite for driving success, be comfortable with ambiguity and be able to quickly adjust plans and strategies as needed to align with changing business needs.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of our company by partnering with leaders to achieve conditions that support increased talent density.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Leadership: Partner closely with the leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that achieve conditions that support increased talent density and team efficiency. Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership on all people-related matters, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and organizational development.
- Performance Management and Development: Design and implement performance management frameworks that drive a culture of excellence and accountability. Collaborate with leaders to set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and develop tailored development plans to maximize individual and team performance.
- Organizational Development: Partner with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness and change management initiatives. Identify opportunities for process improvement, talent development, and succession planning.
- HR Analytics and Insights: Utilize data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making. Leverage HR analytics tools to measure and analyze key HR metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
- Employee Engagement and Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being.
Qualifications
You will bring to the table:
- Passionate about the use of great tooling and products in enhancing talent services, experienced and thrived in similar HRBP environments and have a knack for envisioning the future-state of world-class support organizations.
- Creative problem solver and critical thinking skills with a bias towards action and being a doer.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote and fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and excel in a cross-functional environment.
- Well-balanced skills -- People have trouble pinning you down. Both business and technical teams claim you as their own. You are equal parts technical and functional (and both are exceptionally strong), and you are equally comfortable and effective at presenting to technical or business leaders.
- A strong sense of urgency around your work, investment in the team, the company, and the ability to hold yourself accountable to the highest standard of excellence.
- A "we're all in it together" mentality. You love working on a team.
- Experience leveraging AI and data tools to drive insights and improve decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
- A willingness to challenge orthodoxy
