Job Description
Shopify is seeking an experienced Industry Marketer to join our new enterprise industry marketing team. You’ll be responsible for leading marketing for a collection of enterprise verticals, partnering with sales leadership to build strategies, campaigns, and collateral that drive pipeline and closed deals. You are an enthusiastic, revenue-focused builder who loves getting new marketing programs off the ground from scratch.
You will work closely with our Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Demand Generation, Content Marketing, Partner Marketing, and Commercial teams, along with Executive stakeholders, to verticalize Shopify’s go-to-market in a hands-on, results-focused role.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience working directly with sales teams to position and sell SaaS products to an enterprise audience, both at a campaign level and on a deal-by-deal basis. This person will be a creative, collaborative leader who can bring demonstrable experience in vertical or industry marketing to the team. This role will ship, iterate, and experiment frequently and requires both deep strategic planning and the ability to execute tactical marketing work quickly and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Build an industry marketing strategy in collaboration with our sales and industry leadership to drive pipeline and closed deals
- Position and package Shopify’s solutions for vertical-specific use cases
- Partner with data science, revenue operations, and sales to analyze industry data and trends to uncover new opportunities and emerging use cases
- Lead account-based marketing campaigns targeting enterprise accounts within your vertical
- Develop vertical-specific sales collateral, assets, and deal approaches in partnership with sales
- Run vertical-specific field marketing campaigns across hosted events, conferences, VIP experiences, and trade shows
- Identify key industry influencers, publications, and analysts to support marketing activity
- Support deals directly by working with sales to develop account strategies, deal-specific presentations and talk tracks, and run executive engagements in collaboration with our executive programs team
- Work closely with demand generation and content marketing to build industry-specific ads, emails, ebooks, and other marketing collateral in support of campaigns
Qualifications
- Experience in the digital commerce industry and in a sales-driven B2B SaaS environment
- Experience building digital and field marketing campaigns targeting an enterprise audience
- Expertise in translating product marketing narratives, positioning, and packaging into vertical-specific enterprise solutions
- Demonstrated ability to actively participate in sales conversations with clients as needed
- Demonstrated ability to create strong partnerships with Sales, Product, Partner, and Marketing teams
- Deep understanding of the enterprise technology buying cycle
- Ability to manage internal communications across many different teams to ensure alignment around vertical priorities, objectives, and results
- Confidence in managing executive stakeholder relationships
- Ability to balance and shift between high level strategic thinking and tactical, detail-oriented execution
- 8+ years experience in marketing with a minimum of 5+ years in product or industry marketing at a technology company
Bonus
- Experience in the digital commerce, point of sale, payments, financial services, or fulfillment industries
- Experience in enterprise sales or solutions engineering
- Experience in marketing SaaS technology to enterprise retail and ecommerce clients
- Experience working at an enterprise retail or ecommerce business in a corporate capacity
- Familiarity with Shopify and its products, particularly for large and complex enterprises
