Overview:
As a member of TE Connectivity’s Global Government Affairs and Corporate Responsibility team (GGA-CR), the government affairs policy advisor will be a part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions and functions to advance TE’s government affairs agenda before elected officials and government decision-makers. In this role, you’ll work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to promote TE’s business priorities and deliver on growth objectives in the Americas region.
The candidate will support the Global Government Affairs Americas Lead in developing and advancing the TE Americas policy strategy, including identifying legislative, regulatory, and operational risks and opportunities across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The candidate will serve as an advocate and interlocuter with these governments, developing issue champions on tax, trade, and workforce policy issues. The candidate will also support the administration of TE Connectivity’s Political Action Committee (TEPAC).
Key responsibilities:
Develop, implement and manage government affairs strategy and legislative agenda, including tracking legislation, regulation, and direct lobbying.
Provide rapid response to fast-moving legislative priorities including the development of talking points with key internal subject matter experts. Provide support in translating policy initiatives into business opportunities to help grow TE’s revenue and impact positively/protect TE’s bottom line.
Support grassroots agenda by organizing facility visits by government officials, as well as annual “Washington, DC Fly In.”
Recommend political contributions to U.S. candidates aligned with TE’s business interests. Coordinate compliance and administration of the PAC, including membership solicitations and communications.
Support the GGA Americas Lead in management of trade association membership and outside political consultants.
Write position papers and issue summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee the tracking of facility footprint across the region and maintain facility fact sheets for advocacy effort support.
Support the GGA Americas Lead with footprint projects to achieve value for the company.
Identify opportunities to position TE executives with high level decision-makers.
What your background should look like:
Basic requirements:
- Three to five years of proven professional experience on Capitol Hill or in a government affairs role.
- Must have demonstrated ability to develop and leverage a strong network of key leaders across governments.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in political science, communications, business or international affairs.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written, oral). Additional Spanish language capabilities are a plus.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the political process and legislative/regulatory environments in the United States. Relevant experience with Latin American countries a plus.

- Ability to effectively navigate multiple Governments and political decision-making processes across diverse regions.
- Experience in strategic stakeholder engagement and ability to interact with external decision-makers and internal customers, colleagues, teams and other third parties.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural and complex cross-functional environment with proven capabilities in building relationships and trust and creating common understanding between internal and external divergent interests.
- Excellent communicator persuading people through sound and well-documented business cases.

- High level of integrity and ethics.
- Ability to work under time pressure, managing multiple assignments with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Some travel across the region.
