Job Overview
The Instructional Designer (ID) will support the ongoing content creation and maintenance needs of TE’s Channel Learning, Development & Communication team’s robust digital training, and learning materials. Working closely with Global Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Channel’s Sales/Service Consultants and Leaders as well as Product Managers and Marketing teams from multiple Business Units, the ID will create new high-quality, instructor-led & eLearning video-based courses for New Hires, Tenured Individuals, and Leaders. The learning content scope includes system enhancements, marketing campaigns, product, & soft skills training. The ID will also help drive ongoing content maintenance efforts for existing instructor-led and eLearning courses, including facilitation of translated materials, metadata tagging, and management of SME reviews. The ID will work with a diverse global team located in different time zones that requires occasional scheduling flexibility to meet business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Consult with Global Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to identify training needs
Design and develop new and maintain existing learning content (instructor-led, eLearning, micro-learning, video-based learning, games, simulations, job aids, role plays, and blended approaches)
Develop presentations and design plans to support new content development, re-design, or maintenance for existing content, ensuring internal stakeholder alignment to scope and timeframes
Create supporting voiceover audio files using both self-recorded audio and available AI-based audio tool
Develop learning assessments, quizzes, proficiency tests, or knowledge checks
Update and manage closed captioning transcripts for video-based learning content Implement required content changes within the LMS platforms
Provide project progress regularly
Keep current on learning and development trends to ensure the organization is taking advantage of the latest techniques and technologies
Perform LMS administrative tasksProtect, secure, and ensure proper handling of all confidential data
What your background should look like:
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
Minimum of 1 -3 years of experience as an Instructional Designer, Content Developer, or Content Manager (or similar role)
Bachelor’s or master’s degree with major coursework in Instructional Design or Training and Development preferred
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE
Understanding of content management and online learning platforms experience
Ability to influence or motivate internal SMEs to ensure deadlines are met
Ability to understand and translate technical business requirements into easily understood concepts for learners
Respond to internal Customer needs and effectively prioritize to ensure successful outcomes in a fast-paced business environment
Strong written & verbal communication skills
Excellent project management and presentation skills that establish trust, credibility, and respect
Relationship management skills including a tactful, diplomatic approach
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), plus experience with TEAMS and SharePoint
Experience with tools such as an LMS, Articulate Rise and Storyline, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe Photoshop, Audacity, SnagIt, or Vyond
Working hours flexibility to be able to participate in global meetings (when needed)
PREFERRED
Prior sales/service experience and experience developing training solutions in a corporate environment with tools such as SAP, Salesforce, and/or Genesys.
ASTD or other certifications in instructional design
