Job Overview
The Product Engineering Intern will be responsible for engineering activities to support the design, and documentation of existing products as well as new product extensions. They will use input from sales and marketing, customers, manufacturing engineering, and development engineering to provide robust solutions. The intern may interact directly with customers to identify key deliverables and establish product specifications to fulfill customer requirements. They will apply basic engineering principles, practices, and procedures while working with the manufacturing processes of machining, stamping, plating, molding, and assembly. The Intern will work closely with other Product Engineers and other disciplines such as Manufacturing, Process, and Quality Engineering to find solutions to improve manufacturability and improve designs. They will explore ways to cost reduce the product through design changes while still meeting the product performance requirements. The Intern will also work with Procurement and other engineering disciplines to approve new suppliers.
Potential Projects
The Product Engineering Intern could work on any of the product lines in our current product portfolio within the Aerospace Defense, and Marine Connectors Group including but not limited to AMPLIMITE, MULTIGIG, BOX, COPALUM, ARINC, RF, PLUG-N-PLAY, NANONICS, Microdot, etc. The projects would include work in the areas of cost reduction, design improvement, documentation management and new product extensions. Some of our customers include, SpaceX, Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman among many others.
What your background should look like:
The Product Engineering Intern position would require experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, 2-D CAD experience, 3-D CAD modelling skills in Pro Engineer/Creo or Spaceclaim would be preferred. The Intern Candidate should possess strong MS Office skills, an understanding of design fundamentals including mechanical design, basic electrical theory, and materials science. The Intern Candidate should be a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with strong mechanical skills. The intern should be energetic, creative, eager to learn, and willing to work on multidisciplinary teams to support the goals of our organization.

COMPENSATION
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $20 – $30 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
